The Future of Erebus, new drummer recording with us in Sept.

Postby JimminySnakeTits » Sat Jun 26, 2010 9:48 pm

This will probably come as a surprise to most of you in the forum, but Erebus has decided to part ways with our (now former) drummer. There are no hard feelings here on our part toward him - he performed pretty admirably in Erebus - but we felt a change was necessary in order to ensure we would have the best album possible when we record this fall.

So, without further adieu, I would like to welcome our old friend Madskins of Luna Mortis fame to the Erebus family for the recording. He has agreed to give the album a shot, and we look forward to making awesome music with one of the best guys we've met in our years of playing metal.

In a nutshell, Erebus' live performance days are likely numbered (that number might be 0). Dave is going to be moving to Chicago to go to graduate school, I am getting married in the fall (and bought a house earlier in the year), and it's getting harder to do this thing we love.

So we are heading to the studio with the ambition to put our best effort out there and record something we truly love. Hopefully you will too

As far as future shows go, we would need to find another drummer to do shows, and then there's the logistics of working out a band with members living in Stevens Point, Madison, Chicago, and possibly a 4th location for the new drummer.

Wish us luck, and we'll be around!

Hot shit, that's awesome. (I mean the Madskins thing, not so much the not playing thing.)

Wellll.. Poo. The drum situation stinks, the live situation stinks, but it's cool that Madskins will do the drums.

Yeah, it's pretty bittersweet. I'll miss the shows and all, but I am ready to have more time in my life for other things. I just don't have the time it takes to practice my guitar and be as good as I need to be for a live band. I also won't mind not hauling equipment around all over hell and back, but I'll miss my bandmates who I've basically seen 40/50 weekends a year for the past 4-5 years.

I'm really pumped to do the album though, and very happy Madskins will be helping us out.

Yeah, I'm bummed about it too. I on the other hand have more time to practice and do band stuff. :(

I just want to say that having Erik drum for Erebus is amazing. Haven't been this excited to go to practice in a long ass time. The new album is going to rule!

Ugh. Not having Erebus live is a real blow to Wisconsin metal. Good luck in the studio and good luck to Dave as he tries out being a FIB

Honestly though, have fun in graduate school.. I'm starting next week

Well thanks man. Frankly I haven't been this excited to play in a long time because, well,

The end of LM was anything but smooth and it's fucking great to be rocking with old friends. Feels right.

Well for shit's sake, if Im'ma learn 10 tunes in 3 rehearsals then we should prolly just book some shows, ya? Ya.
So, um, let's us get after that

woah, I know I'm late to this, but that's pretty awesome(about Madskins, and the album). I only saw you dudes once, and I really want to see you guys again, so agreed with madskins and apsh about you guys needing to play live
